Our Driver: Randy Cabral. Unlike many young drivers, Randy Cabral did not get his start in Quarter Midgets or Go Karts. He earned the spot in the seat of his Fathers famed #35 NEMA midget through sheer effort and determination. Cabral spent nearly the first eighteen years of his life living, sleeping and breathing midget racing - going to every race to assist his father, Glen, with his own racing efforts.
In 1999, the young Cabrals dream came true A friend of the family, Chuck Welling, gave the young Cabral the opportunity to drive his midget. Quickly, Cabral was hooked, and some time later, his father halted his own driving career and the family purchased the #35 Edmunds midget. Since then, it has been upward sailing for Cabral - who has not finished out of the top 3 in NEMA points in the last 4 years and has 8 wins to his credit.
At the young age of 26, Cabral has nearly 12 years of hands on experience working with midget race cars and has worked as a Professional Automotive Mechanic for over 10 years. Cabral, along with his father, Glen, possess the complex problem solving skills and motivation necessary to prepare a car to win races have proven their ability to work within a team environment. Off the track, Randy is one of the nicest, even-tempered, most professional people in the sport of auto racing.
Randy has the instinct to think/act quickly & responsibly in a race car, has been the most consistent driver on the NEMA tour over the past five years, and has a burning desire to succeed -- that BERTRAND MOTORSPORTS has been extremely impressed with.
